Bright and Airy Monday Night Brewing Wedding // Rebekah & Ryan

Most memorable moment from your wedding day?

Ryan’s answer for this one is the wonderful toasts from his best man, my maid of honor and our fathers. I agree, but the moment I’ll remember the most was casually suggesting to Ryan that we should kiss after we walk into our reception, thinking I would be shot down by him since he hates public displays of affection. Instead, he happily agreed and I got a sweet smooch after they announced us as husband and wife for the second time. The runner-up to that moment is walking down the aisle with my father and hearing him whisper “Look at all these people who are here for you.” I answered, “I only see one.”

Funniest moment on your wedding day?

Our first dance song was a cover of Beyonce’s “Mine” by Third Eye Blind. Of course, the chorus features multiple uses of the word f*ck, so our dear sweet DJ was trying to live-censor it so we could save my grandmother’s ears. Of course, fate had the DJ cue the song to start in the wrong spot and a very obvious f*ck rang out. The DJ fixed it quickly and caught every following use of the word, but Ryan and I had already lost it with giggles and continued to laugh every time we heard the blatant silence where the offending word should be. It was something that I had worried about before the wedding and yet in the moment, it felt so much like “us” that we loved the flub.

What were you most anxious or nervous about regarding your wedding day and how did it turn out?

Ryan was most anxious about his vows, which was silly because he did so amazing! I was most nervous about staying on our timeline and that the decor wouldn’t be “enough.” But, the venue was decorated in the time allotted perfectly (because the people from Mac the Cheese handled that set-up like pros), we stayed exactly on schedule (primarily due to the amazing Christine and Raven) and the room turned out so lush and beautiful that you’d have no idea how little we spent on decor.

What advice would you give to other couples planning their wedding?

Figure out your big “wants” and stand by them. We knew from the beginning that we wanted a big, beautiful party in a brewery with tons of food and drink. Beyond that, everything else could shift. We changed color schemes/floral concepts three times before we landed on the printed bridesmaids dresses and greenery, simply due to availability and feasibility. That stuff didn’t matter as much to us, so we could be flexible. Also – Google sheets. Track everything, even if you think you don’t need to, and get vendors you like, because if you’re like me, you will call them A LOT. But, we were lucky and fell in love with pretty much everyone we worked with, starting with Raven!

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?

Nope. I might choose a different style of dress for the bridesmaids or a more summery outfit for the groomsmen, but the actual day was exactly what we had dreamed up – a relaxed party overflowing with great food, too much booze and the incredible love of our friends and family.

Any tips for future couples on how to prepare for their wedding photos?

Look like yourself – just the best version of yourself. This is not the day to try extensions or crazy false eyelashes or the most dramatic contour. I was so relieved when I looked in the mirror after I was done getting ready because I looked like me, but a bridal me, that it calmed me down completely. Oh, and Ryan says to think through the weather. If it’s 85 degrees outside, realize you will be sweaty in your pictures.
