Autumn Michigan Wedding Photography // Liz & Charlie

Michigan wedding photography of bride and groom with red treesThere were pun-tastic priests, science jokes, outstanding fall foliage, delicious natural light: it was Liz & Charlie’s wedding up in Michigan, y’all.

When these two first contacted me to come up to do their Michigan wedding photography, I don’t think I could have said YASS fast enough. Their wedding email involved the phrase “Hold Onto Your Butts,” and there was mention of nerdiness and brewery tours: I was hooked.

And especially since doing any sort of wedding photography in the North during the fall months means crazy-stupid-amazing foliage, I came on up. Liz & Charlie were a complete delight to party with, both before and on the day of the wedding. Super laidback, always ready with a laugh or smile, and the whole affair felt really personal to both them and their love.

I would definitely love to come explore, do more Michigan wedding photography, and to one day figure out party stores & those wacky Michigan left turns {because what’s the deal with those?!}.

Thank you, Liz & Charlie. You guys were SO much fun!

There were so many, even though it went by so fast!

I loved knocking back a bottle of champagne with my best ladies on our shuttle ride to the school and trying to figure out what to do with the bottle since we were strictly forbidden from tippling at the school.

Seeing Charlie for the first time during our first look was so fun! Honestly it felt odd not being together before then so it was really nice to have some time to chat and be excited together before the ceremony.

The toasts from everyone were beyond wonderful. They were so sweet and funny and just really special to hear.

It was fantastic having all of our friends and family together, especially tearing it up on the dance floor. We had so much fun dancing all night with everyone!

The morning after the wedding we sat and had coffee on the terrace of our hotel room. It was wonderful to take some time to just hang out and enjoy being married while we took in much-needed caffeine and lovely fall foliage.

Charlie pointing out that all of our guests were watching me go to town on the slice of cake from the ceremonial cutting. It was so tasty I just kept eating it without realizing we were still being watched!

Another funny moment was during the surprise game show segment of our wedding ceremony when the pianist played the Jeopardy! theme song. We were frantically trying to make a good pick of the gifts the priest left, so it was nice to have a good laugh with everyone and relax.

I was actually worried about how nervous I would be since I’ve never been comfortable being the center of attention. However, when the time came for the festivities to begin things actually felt pretty calm and happy and everything went smoothly!

Just to remember that as long as you’re married at the end of the day, nothing else is really worth worrying too much over. Easy to say in hindsight, but it really is worth trying to remind yourself of that during the planning process. Also spreadsheets! Huge help in keeping everything organized.

Lastly, make sure you get some kind of proof if you mail your invitations through the post office. ALL of our invitations were very mysteriously lost in the mail but without a paper trail we will likely never learn their fate. It all worked out fine, but it doesn’t hurt to be maniacal about getting proof.

Nope! Only wish the day could have lasted longer. 🙂

Try to relax and enjoy having that time with your soon-to-be/new spouse. We’ve never had professional photos done before (and suspect most people haven’t) but Raven and her colleague were so good at helping us feel relaxed and keeping it fun.
