Most memorable moment from your wedding day?
The whole day is kind of a blur. All that planning and it goes by so fast. But I am going to say the most memorable moment is the ceremony. My best friend of 17 years got ordained and performed the ceremony. She is also the person responsible for setting us up…so she deserved to be the one to marry us. She did an absolutely phenomenal job and I am so glad that she was a part of it.
Funniest moment on your wedding day?
Chris stepping on my dress on our way to our first dance. My MoH (Bri) and I completely forgot to bustle my dress after the ceremony and then it was too late. Chris stepped on the back of it walking outside and almost fell. I also had to keep kicking it out of the way during our dance. We laughed about it then and we still laugh about it now.
What were you most anxious or nervous about regarding your wedding day and how did it turn out?
I was really nervous about the weather. We picked a riverside location and I was just hoping that all the guests wouldn’t have to be crammed inside the building. Luckily, I had made a deal with Mother Nature…She could rain all she wanted to up to and after Sept 8…but on Sept 8 it had to be beautiful. And it was. The weather was perfect. So perfect that we were able to have our first dance outside. Just gorgeous.
What advice would you give to other couples planning their wedding?
Honestly, the best advise I was given was “be yourself.” There are soooo many people telling you that you should do this…or you should do that…that its really easy to get sucked into all the things that other people think your wedding should be. Also…take a hiatus from Pinterest. Dreaming of your perfect wedding on pinterest and actually trying to plan your wedding are two different things. Its very easy to get bogged down with all the cute tutorials that are out there. I had to take a step back for about 3 months until we decided what we actually wanted. Then I only used Pinterest for specific things. Also….its perfectly normal to cry during the process. I made my own bouquets and had many rage quit crying fests.
If you could do it all over, would you change anything?
Yep. I’d absolutely hire a videographer. Or at least have someone filming. We tried setting up a camera on a tripod. Things were so hectic the day of the wedding that nobody actually tested the camera first. The brand new memory card was corrupted and we didn’t find out until we tried to watch it. I still get compliments on how great the ceremony was but I will never be able to see it.
Any tips for future couples on how to prepare for their wedding photos?
Honestly…get a photographer that speaks to your interests and what you guys are as a couple. Chris and I are not comfortable in front of the camera. That is were an excellent photographer like Raven comes in. Be chill and relaxed. 🙂
