Soft and Airy Riverside Wedding in Atlanta, GA // Anna & Rick

Most memorable moment from your wedding day?

I’m not a particularly sentimental person, so I’m surprised that it’s hands down our ceremony. We definitely planned it from scratch, and it was basically all humor and personal details. Struggling not to cry, and watching him struggle not to cry, and feeling like everyone in the audience was laughing and crying with us… was an unforgettable moment.

Funniest moment on your wedding day?

When my feet were hurting after hours in my wedding heels, so Rick tossed me over his shoulder and carried me back across the parking lot after our couple pictures and tried to check me in at the valet! The valet driver laughed and promised to park me in the front 😛

What were you most anxious or nervous about regarding your wedding day and how did it turn out?

I had this weird worry that we’d get there on that day and no one would show up to this beautiful wedding we (read, I) had planned! Of course, we have friends and family who love us, so that didn’t happen! Also, I had this one weird dream a few weeks beforehand that my DJ didn’t show up at there was no silverware, so people were just sitting at the reception silently eating steak with their hands………. yeah, wedding dreams are no joke.

What advice would you give to other couples planning their wedding?

Pick the things that you and your fiancee want, not what everyone tells you that you should have. We interviewed all of our vendors personally, chose venues and themes that were meaningful to us! So we ended up recessing down the aisle to Star Wars music, and had a Portal reference on our cake….so what?! Even our older, conservative relatives had a blast, and complimented us on how beautifully different our entire wedding was. TL;DR- Go with your gut!

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?

Maybe not have it out of town on Easter weekend, when half of my family is VERY into their churches. I wish those people could have made it. But really, Easter moves days every year- I didn’t realize I was booking for Easter weekend until I’d already put down deposits! And, um, clearly as a person I could be *slightly* more organized. Thank God for my amazing vendors, with their skill and patience.

Any tips for future couples on how to prepare for their wedding photos?

Honestly, if you see our pictures, we all look stupidly happy. Like, goofy dumb grins for 5 hours. Raven (and her second shooter were both amazing at finding those moments where our stupid, dumb grins actually looked flattering. Also, don’t get hung up on all the posed pictures. We did a few, and they’re spectacular and I love them, but my favorites are easily those of our friends and family having a blast with us!
