There are plenty of cosplay photographers out there, ones who shoot at conventions or have a step-and-repeat set up, and those are great! I’ve definitely utilized some of these photographers when I go to DragonCon in cosplay. But that’s not the way I prefer to shoot people in costume for cosplay portraits. Just like any normal portrait session, I want to know everything: what appeals to you about this character, what are some of your favorite attributes of this character, what are they known for, what motivates them? Questions like that, which I always ask for my cosplay sessions, help me see inside the mind of both you and the character to help me do more than pose you like someone else; they help me bring that character to life through you.
Cosplay photography is the best mix of a styled shoot and a portrait session. It’s like being a part of a play or attending a mini convention. I love cosplay photography for so many reasons, and I’d love to do more! It’s such a great time to capture your hard work and amazing looks. I’m constantly in awe of those I photograph in their cosplays. Enjoy this Loki cosplay portrait session in Atlanta!
