Danny’s Cake Smash Session

I don’t often shoot kids, but when the opportunity came along to shoot this smile?  I’m not going to say no.

I used to work for a “fast food photography” chain, which shall not be named, and got to work with kids all the time.  But because these days I tend to focus more on weddings & events - and, well, grown-ups - sometimes I really miss shooting kids.

It’s all a game of chance and speed, when you shoot kids.  {And that goes double when you shoot your own kids.  Or so I’ve heard.}  You have about a window of 20 minutes or so, and it’s always kind of amazing when you get more than that.  There’s a lot of figuring out what works, figuring out what doesn’t, hitting yourself in the face trying to make them laugh, keeping the energy at a certain level {because kids pick up on that}.

Danny actually put up with our smiles and poking our cameras in his face for over twice that long, which is AMAZING, especially since it was close to nap-time.  He did a GREAT job, and we had a blast shooting him.

Thanks, Nichole & Daniel & Danny {and mom!}.
