First Official Shoot with Raven!!!

So I had an engagement shoot with Raven this past Sunday. I was second shooting and her first and only instructions were…”Don’t take the same picture I’m taking”. A little unsure of what she meant, I had to ask for clarification. Her response: “Don’t stand behind me and take the exact same shot”. Well that makes perfect sense to me. Anytime I second shoot my goal is to get different angles and the in between candid’s.

What I wasn’t expecting is for some of my shots to scream “Hey look…I was stalking another photographer and took some shots of her shoot.” I have second shot on several occasions but until now I didn’t realize that they were all one-subject-shoots. When you have one person looking at a camera other than your own it still works well because it appears that the subject is simply looking off into the distance. (Unless they are smiling and then it looks like the subject is a bit crazy and sharing some insanely funny dialogue with their imaginary friend). Two people, however, makes it painfully obvious that your lens isn’t their focus! Here’s to a good lesson learned!

Luckily, I only did this on a couple of shots! The rest were very natural poses where the focus was each other. I am much happier with how those turned out!

This couple was sooooo cute!! They made for great candid’s and their doggies were awesome!!

Thanks to Raven for letting me tag along!!! It was too much fun (and totally out of my comfort zone).

As always Comments are welcome!!
