Forest Walk

I bought my first camera in 2010, limited manual mode and many other features. It was a start. To why I wanted to buy it, I wanted my own so I wouldn’t have to keep asking to borrow someones, when it came time to need it. Had I known then, that I wanted to become professionally based as a photographer, I would have probably bought something else. Which led me to this one. I have bought my first entry DSLR less than a month a go. I have been effortlessly capturing moments.

I was tasked to find my favourite photograph. I have taken literally 5000+ since my first camera. It has seemed quite daunting task to do. Yet, I have only 400 that I in my portfolio, of those how I could I choose? What image makes it better than the rest? What quality does this have that makes the others pale in comparison?

I took this with a borrowed lens that I have recently given back to it proper owner, and I feel that of the photos I have taken, this one speaks to me. One may think that it would be in a stuck up and biased way. Of the many concert photos, I have taken, and random walks at lakes, parks and beaches, I asked myself why this one.

It is because of the depth. Of all my recents, this particular one make you feel warm and cold, unsure of where to go. For that I allow it. As it is an extension of me. Unsure of how to step in the world that begins at my feet. I let myself loose into the ever changing earth, to see where I am meant to be. I know it isn’t the best, and I will never call it that. This is me.
