Two Month Session in a Leather Jacket

This is Simon, and his parents Ashley & Greg. They are all awesome. They have that in common with all of my clients, actually.

We got together recently for Simon’s two-month session and their first family session since his birth. Simon had the coolest miniature leather jacket I’ve ever seen, and looks that would make James Dean jealous. He was master of the huge laugh and the serious face. He can even lift one eyebrow better than I can!

We also tried a monkey costume, which he wanted nothing to do with {haha}.

I love shooting in peoples homes; I feel like it lends a touch of intimacy that can’t quite be achieved outdoors, and certainly not in studio. Don’t get me wrong, I love shooting in those places, too, but there’s a different quality to natural light shots done inside your home.

It’s also a testament to the fact that anywhere - and I mean anywhere - can be the studio. As photographers, especially those who shoot weddings, we have to be able to make beauty in seemingly ordinary spaces. Not everyone gets ready for their wedding in a lavish salon or bridal suite. Sometimes it’s the pre-school room of the church {we’ve done 3-4 of those} or outside, even {done one of those, too}. It’s my job to find the beauty, no matter where I am.
