Composition is hard when you have a busy mind. Execution is even harder. So how is it you can have a great idea in your mind, but compose and execute it poorly. I had this very problem, I will say everything that transpired did happen to be my fault due to poor planning and communication
I recently took a ride over to the Vickery Mill in Roswell, Ga with my friend Lindsay. I had been asking her to do model for me for quite some time, and we finally fell on a date where we both could work. I frequent Vickery Mill once a month or so, I know of the artistic value in the site.
Now this was my first time solo shooting with someone, and I felt it went fine. Having said this, I know I can do loads better. When I direct people I tend to clam up and feel awkward of a sort. It is not the first time this has happened, surely the directing will come easier as I progress as a photographer in the months to come.
Perhaps I will revisit this shoot with a more detailed and planned out shoot in the future. For now, this is definitely a learning experience.
