Having visited Austin, Texas a handful of times previously, I knew I’d love shooting weddings there, too. So I jumped at the opportunity to shoot with my friend Jenna from Creatrix Photography on a wedding at Addison Grove in Austin and it didn’t disappoint! From the lovely and rich details that Amanda and Ben chose for their wedding to the venue itself {and the real-live longhorn cattle next door}, everything was a delight.

Here are some of the best places to take wedding photographs at Addison Grove:

One of the things I loved about shooting at Addison Grove is that it has this awesome grove of trees {surprise} that are nothing like what I’m used to, growing up on the east coast. Their twisted trunks and dark color contrasted so well against the vibrant green and the colors that the bride and groom had chosen.

The green room in the back of the barn has such character with its wooden walls and fun, reflective surfaces. There are even high windows that make for a hell of a great portrait!

Going further into the trees and exploring the mini-field off to the side of the outdoor ceremony space also makes for some killer wedding photo time. Between the shaded section in the trees giving you soft light and the wide open space of the field providing some intense and dramatic light and shadows, the outside space yields a ton of different lighting and backdrop options.

In front of the barn is a great place to focus, as well, since the soft blue and white trim of the outside of the barn are really lovely and you can really capture the entire space.

The getting ready house off to the side of the outdoor ceremony space is breathtaking and the perfect place for getting ready photos or any kind of wedding portraits, really. The windows lend themselves easily to beautiful light and the rooms and well-appointed {how often do I get to say that?} and really show what a luxurious venue Addison Grove is.

Inside the barn, for the reception or the ceremony {in case the weather is just too wicked, like it was during my visit} is all warm-tones and big open spaces: really giving you the opportunity to put your own spin on things while not being completely blank.

There are a ton of other spots I didn’t even get to explore while shooting this wedding at Addison Grove, so I’ll have to save those for next time! I love making multiple trips to the same venue: it’s such an amazing challenge to see the space in a new light {sometimes literally!}.
