A Comedian’s Headshot Session In-Studio

I love comedy. Watching it, making jokes with people, quips, going to shows, turns of phrases, really bad puns, everything.

This is Austin King. He’s freakin’ funny. His next big show is May 9th at The World Famous in Athens. I’ll be there with bells on.

I like doing headshots. Probably because they’re intimate, just the two of us and the camera, so we can do whatever we want. And headshots for a comedian are completely different from an actor’s headshots, which in-turn are completely different from a business persons headshots.

Comedian headshots are especially rad because we got to listen to jokes the whole time. Which is the opposite of a normal shoot, where I’m typically telling the jokes. Usually bad ones.

Next time you see me in person, ask me to tell you my favorite joke. You won’t be sorry.

A Dramatic Pin-Up Boudoir Session in Studio

One of the reasons I like shooting boudoir and glamour-style portrait sessions is that each session truly molds itself around the subject; who they are as people, what they’re interested in, what makes their hearts beat faster.  Some of these sessions, I shoot in the clients’ home, while others take place in a rented space or hotel room, while still others are shot entirely in-studio, like this pin-up boudoir session with Tina.

We did two looks: traditional pin-up and a darker, more sultry & just-awoken look.

What You Should Expect From Your Photographer

It doesn’t matter why you’re looking for a photographer. If you’re looking for someone to shoot your wedding day, your family portraits, having a session “just because” or to celebrate who you are at this time in your life, there are things you should expect from your photographer {or any vendor, for that matter}.

1. They should fit your style or personality.

There are all types of photographers out there. Some only shoot portraits, some only shoot bands, some only shoot pets, and some shoot it all. And within each of those types is a plethora of styles and personalities. By picking someone who fits you, you’re ensuring that you’ll get what you’re looking for. It makes it easier for the two of you to make your time together a collaboration.

2. They should be excited to collaborate with you.

Not only should they be willing to collaborate with you and listen to your ideas and hopes for your session, but they should be excited to make your ideal plans happen.

3. They should be willing to work hard for you.

Basically, they should do what it takes to get the shot. Laying on the ground, standing on chairs, getting in water, whatever it takes.

You deserve a photographer who has your best interests at heart, and who wants to give you amazing images that make you happy every time you look at them.
