I’ve lived in Gainesville, GA for around 4 years, this September, and I’ve always driven past the Blackshear Baptist Church and wondered what it was list on the inside. Every time I’d go to the grocery store - because Blackshear Baptist Church is on the way, you see - I’d think, “man, I’ll bet it’d be boss to shoot a wedding there.” Because I say things like “boss” when I talk to myself.
With Nicole & John’s wedding, I finally got the chance to experience a wedding at Blackshear Baptist Church, and it was indeed pretty boss.
One of the things that really appealed to me about this couple is how completely into history they are. Nicole’s a complete nut for the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812, while John tends to stick with the Civil War {which I used to be a fangirl for, so I get it, I GET IT}, but they’re both super interested in history. I think that’s so neat, and kind of fitting that we got to work together, since I’m obsessed with preserving your history as a couple and helping you tell your story, get your legend going.
Everything about their wedding was soft and sweet, a very elegant wedding. And you just try and tell me Nicole & John aren’t completely adorable. G’head and try.
Thank you, Nicole & John. You guys are awesome.
Growing up in North Georgia, I’d, of course, always heard of Chateau Elan. For those of you who grew up elsewhere, Chateau Elan is our most famous local winery in North Georgia, an awesome venue with rows and rows of vines, stables, and everything else you could want in a winery wedding. I’ve been lucky enough to visit a few times recently, first for a Christmas Party and then for a tour & wine tasting. But Heidi & Jim’s wedding marked my first time being a wedding photographer at Chateau Elan!
Heidi & Jim had a super intimate and beautiful wedding, with a ceremony in the art gallery at the winery and a reception in the ballroom downstairs in the hotel. With a total guest list of around 30 people, it was cozy and personal, with only the people they most care about in attendance. Their colors were red, black, and white, with a focus on simplicity.
Their wedding was a treat to photograph, and the weather even held out for us, as well, giving us great clouds overhead for their portraits.
Thank you, Heidi & Jim. You guys are awesome.
Chateau Elan wedding photographer, Atlanta, GA.
Alyson wants to see the world. To visit strange & fantastic places. To meet new & interesting people. She wants to be a flight attendant, specifically with the United Arab Emirates Airline, based out of Dubai.
She needed specific headshots to apply for the position, plus some awesome portraits of her, “just because.” Which I think is one of the best reasons to get your portrait done.
So together, we designed a session that would fulfill both needs, and met up in Dacula, GA for her summer portrait and flight attendant headshot session. I picked the time of day and the location based solely around what I knew of Alyson’s personality, and the specific diversity our location would give us. We picked outfits that would show two sides of her personality, and hairstyles as well.
The result was a laidback summery fashion catalog feeling, evoking sunshine and the scent of freshly mowed grass.
Thank you, Alyson. You were awesome, as always, to work with.
