Intern Chris - Concerts, Trucks and Bars

Two months have gone by an I have been quite busy with my day job, it left very little for anything else. I can say I have frequented a concert, shot a few photos of new friends and made the most of a two hour wait for a tow truck.

All in all I can say I have been busy. Busy but not idle. It’s amazing how the littlest things, can seem to make the best outcomes for a photo, whether it is the uncertainty of a blown out sky, which when adjusted makes it clear, or just seeing people laugh. or even the tiniest bokeh of on coming traffic by the side of a road in tall grass.

It seems that I have been making the most of the last few months, after three failed attempts to visit fields of sunflowers, I ended up waiting for a tow truck in pouring rain for a little over two hours. After the first hour listening to music and sitting in a stifling car, I realized I had my camera in the car. So As the rain let up I took note of everything around, a small patch of grass, my broken down car, and a small collection of rocks that had a fresh stream running over them.

I like music. It is apparent in everything I am, so finding good local bands is rare. Finding local bands, in which the members are people you actually grew up, with is just as rare. The moment you hear them perform the music, is just so surreal. I was shocked. The music is phenomenal and explosive. I went out not expecting much, but I was blown away. Hearing riffs and licks that just seem so out of place in a dive bar. I’m hoping these bands get noticed soon.

Doug Funny and the Freshtones

I recently started being sociable and made new friends. So I took my camera up to the local taco joint, and snapped photos candidly. I was presently surprised when all of the photos I took were quite perfect. It is amazing how we see people so differently under the influence of alcohol. Some people will start professing their love for you, others will be quite, awkward and mime entire conversations. At the same time, you have to be ever watchful. I had near misses with accidental spillages, almost ruining the camera.
