Sarah & Kendall’s Eclectic DIY Wedding at The Solarium

Hanging out with Sarah & Kendall for their eclectic DIY wedding was awesome. Like, really, really awesome. Even right now, typing this out to tell you all about their day, I’m still slightly in awe that I was chosen to be their photographer. We met through a mutual friend, who was in Atlanta for the A Practical Wedding book tour that the amazing Meg Keene went on to promote her wedding planning book, “A Practical Wedding: Creative Ideas for Planning a Beautiful, Affordable, and Meaningful Celebration,” {which I cannot recommend more highly}.

We met up initially to talk about details of the engagement shoot, see what they were interested in, see what they were all about, and basically just get to know each other better. We discussed the engagement session plans, decided we wanted to document a “day in the life” with them in their home, with the things that meant the most to them, and the animals, too. I also planted a seed of an idea for a Holi color powder fight, which luckily bloomed into existence. From the first moment, I really enjoyed chatting with them, and was dying for them to like me enough to hire me for their wedding. And they did. :)

Sarah & Kendall’s day took place in two locations: the getting ready half {including the bundles of DIY} took place at their home, which was right down the street from the venue, The Solarium. It was a mix of everything the couple loves: good food, fun, and little things like dandelions, parasols, awesome quotes about love, and family.

A ton of the day was put together by friends & families of the couple, including the flowers, cake, and all of the decorations. Catering {including chicken & waffles!} was by Endive. And there was a New Orleans jazz band parade down the street. Fantastic.

Thank you so much, Sarah & Kendall. You guys are AWESOME.
