Jo’s Goddess Session

P I N this to pinterestI’m an incredibly fortunate person in that all of my friends are amazingly talented and creative. I mean, if they weren’t, they wouldn’t be my friends, but still: I have awesome friends.

Jo is a fellow photographer, and she, my team, and I recently designed a goddess-inspired personal session for her.

Our initial inspiration was one of her favorite three goddesses: Ishtar, Isis, & Athena, which morphed into our own version of a Jo goddess: the embodiment of female strength and beauty. A constant battle between love & war. A Mediterranean and Middle-Eastern look with a modern twist.

Miranda, my stylist, helped us pull together different gold and bronze jewelry pieces, and designed a full outfit on the spot based on a rough idea I had.

Melanie, my hair & make-up artist, did Jo’s hair in corkscrew curls, and really dramatic eyes in golds, browns, and blacks.

Being able to collaborate with my team on such a purely creative shoot is incredibly freeing and amazing. It forced me to really stretch my creative muscles, and I felt physically better afterwards.

Thank you so much, Jo. You’re just so damned awesome.
