Lifestyle In-Home Newborn Photography Session in Arlington, Virginia

When I first started shooting, I was terrified of shooting newborn photography. I’m sure it’s partly to do with my feeling so ungainly & clumsy around something so tiny & delicate, and partly because I was simply intimidated by the intensity of the moments {it’s like a wedding in miniature; you can’t get that time back}.

But whatever it was, I’m so totally over it, now.

I love capturing who families are. I love images of smiles, of crying babies, of pouty faces, of anything that says “this is who I am, right now.” It’s so important to me that these things are captured before they fly by.

That’s why I’m not into incredibly posed shots, or of looking or feeling stiff in your pictures: because that’s not who you are. And who you are is the most important thing to me.

While we were visiting Arlington, Virginia, we took a trip up to the capital to spend some time with Alex, Anthony, & Sam.

As always, I focused on them as a family; who they are both together and separately. We shot all over their home, including in their nursery which features pages out of The Giving Tree, one of my all-time favorite books.

Thank you three so, so much for shooting with us. You were AWESOME to shoot with, and we can’t wait to come back for his 3 month portraits! :)
