Rustic St. Simons Wedding // Kensey & Dylan

I’ve only visited the St. Simon’s Island area a handful of times, once photographing an amazing wedding on nearby Kiawah Island and once for a school trip when I was a kid, so I was PSYCHED to head back to shoot with the amazing photographer Gabbie Burseth. The AirBnb rental that Kensey & Dylan rented for their St. Simons wedding was fantastic and really had everything you could need in a venue space. From the getting ready through the end of the night, all the pieces of the day took place on-site, with guests brought in on a trolley, which was a lovely touch of whimsy. It was so nice for them and their guests that they didn’t have to go anywhere else!

One of my favorite aspects of shooting this wedding was the ceremony spot, all Spanish moss and huge trees, plus I found a ton of fun things to shoot through! Creating unique portraits for a wedding day is always fun! Another of my favorite aspects was the sunset, which was spectacular. Gabbie grabbed the couple just before golden hour turned to blue hour and we headed to the docks. {My only piece of advice for anyone planning a St. Simon’s wedding? Bring bugspray!}

Being right on the water allowed for some fantastic photography opportunities, including a great view of the sunset, the water itself, and all of the gorgeous trees that come with the area. The filtered light coming through the moss was gorgeous, and the whole area just has a way of making time feel slowed down and calm. It was such a pretty setting for Kensey & Dylan’s St. Simons wedding day!
