Motion

It is only recently that I have discovered that motion blur in a shot isn’t necessarily a bad thing. In fact, it think I think I have become quite fond of it. So…when Raven said that we were doing a dance session I was excited. I knew that this would be a prime opportunity to play with motion and hone those skills a little.

When Kristen pulled out the toe-shoes I was in heaven! I knew at that point that the motion was totally going to happen!

I think the most important thing I took from this shoot is that I am scared of slow shutter speeds. I set myself to a speed that I knew would give me motion but I was so worried about blurring to the point of no return that I didn’t go quite slow enough on some.

All-in-all I love how the entire session went and I definitely want to set up something similar in the near future so that I can play with motion even more. I definitely have been forced to push out of my comfort zone and as I go along I’m finding the lines of that zone blurring (no pun intended)!

I’ve also learned that I should make sure to take at least one or two shots at every session that are done in a landscape orientation.

Until Next Time-

Molly
