Seven years/ Photoshoot at the Duluth Town Green!

A Photographer’s career in perspective:

I spent the last two hours looking through every crevice of my back-up files to find out just how many photos I have taken since I had a digital camera put in my hands for any type of purpose.

Now keep this in mind, from 2006-2010 I didn’t have daily access to a camera or a car, so you may think the averages might be off.

In the last 7 years since I went to New York with the Band to my recent shoot at the Town Green yesterday. Since then, I have taken 13,581 photos. That averages to 38 per day, 1132 per month, and 1940 per year. Of those photos I have uploaded 2938 of them to Facebook. Which means of those photos, I only found to like which is an average 4.6% per photo.

Now if you want to know the figure for the LAST four years, I have taken 12,807 photos. Which is 35 photos per day, 1067 per month, and 3202 per year. These are starting to seem more logical. I uploaded 2584, which only increases the average percentage of the uploads to 4.9% . That’s a 1.06% increase.

Of these photos 4634 of them are of MuteMath in some form. Which means 2.9% of my photos are of solely MuteMath!

How’s that for an evening at home!!

On a side note, I recently helped my friend Tyler with a short film as “Director of Photography”. I spent my time off work from 3.30 to 6 helping and poorly acting in his film. When my scene was over, I put aside my career as an actor to focus on my real passion. So I took behind the scenes of the shoot and made sure I got good shots. I think I did.

It was a new experience for me. I played second fiddle, as I always do, but this was for a better cause. It allowed me to branch out. To view what someone else was try to depict. That was the challenge. How was I supposed to make someone else’s world my own? I bet the screenwriter for the new Star Wars film is asking himself the same thing right now.:DSo I hovered behind, as if I was a self-propelled camera. Taking stock of what was being said, gauging reactions and noting when the Frisbee was going to be thrown.

The story behind the film was taken from 500 Days of Summer, when Tom goes to Summer’s engagement party

Similarly explained it goes on to show how one person can sleep a few minutes late and have an entirely different day. How much could a day change if you were only five minutes earlier?

I also took the time to pull the actress Natalie, who is an awesome person, aside while Tyler and Dylan were filming a scene where Dylan get hit in the head with a Frisbee *sadly I don’t have any impact photos*. I took the opportunity to use the Golden Hours to have an impromptu shoot with her. I couldn’t have asked for better lighting conditions. The results were fantastic!

After all the principal photography had been finished, We congregated in a circle and chatted for a short while. I took the time to snap quite and awesome portraits of everyone there. I think that while, I am looking to pursue a career in concert photography, that portraits would be easily acceptable in the downtime, if there were any lined up. I also took the time to clean up my friend Kyle’s Acne, seeing as the workshop coming up is workflow and editing. You can see from a side by side comparison, while it isn’t the best edit, it still looks better than before.

This was a great day, I learned how to subjective. In time, perhaps, I’ll even limit myself to bring a smaller memory card so I can limit myself on how many photos I can take. Restraint is probably the hardest thing to do as a photographer. I know that Raving Raven can teach a lot more than I know now and I am extremely grateful for this opportunity. I am looking forward to the currently adjacent doors, that will soon open outward, as they invite me inside.
